Quick Answer

Siegecraft covers the attack-and-defense layer of Stronghold 4: walls, traps, archers, siege engines, rain, range, and castle destruction.

Confirmed So Far

  • Stronghold 4 announcement materials mention enhanced medieval war mechanics and siegecraft.
  • Heavy rain reducing archery range has been described in announcement coverage.
  • Castle traps and constructions are part of the stated siege danger.

System Overview

Siegecraft is the combat half of Stronghold 4. Players need to understand both sides of the wall: how to design defenses that survive pressure and how to attack castles once the economy can support an offensive army.

Weather and castle layout belong together. If heavy rain reduces archery range, then tower placement, killing fields, and unit positioning may change depending on conditions. If traps and constructions matter, useful siege coverage needs damage, timing, cost, trigger behavior, and counterplay.

For players, siegecraft breaks into practical categories: walls and towers, ranged units, siege engines, traps, fire or destruction systems, AI attack paths, and weather-modified combat.
